When it comes to countering crime, TerraNautics delivers a multifaceted approach involving conducting and disseminating assessments, deploying innovative technological and non-tech solutions, building strategic partnerships and facilitating training and capacity building with civil society and the public sector. Historically, combating wildlife and marine crime has focused primarily on the protection of species and habitat. Today, combating these illicit activities requires strong governance, coordinated national and regional security, innovative strategy development, active community engagement, a well-managed protected area network, and sustainable economic development.

Increasing demand for wild animal products has led to an unprecedented surge in illegal wildlife trade. Wildlife trafficking has become a serious crime run by dangerous syndicates posing increasing threats to local wildlife law enforcement. Over the past 10 years, over 1,000 park rangers have been killed in the line of duty, many of them victims of violence perpetrated by poachers.
